Blood clots are nothing to mess around with; in fact they are well known to be quite the silent killer of many if not treated fast enough. Some experience pain as a symptom of clots, or even have dizzy spells way too frequently, while others have no symptoms whatsoever, making this illness incredibly dangerous. Anywhere between 100,000 and 300,000 deaths are reported annually as a result of blood clots. If that isn’t reason enough to get to the doctor if you think even remotely you may have a clot forming, nothing else will persuade you. Urgency is key with treatment and imaging; and with the right care road map, most cases can be maintained with caution. Famous people certainly are not immune to developing clots, and here are a few of them that have struggled with blood clotting.
Regis Philbin is known for his long-running stints on Daytime television with Kathy Lee Gifford and Kelly Ripa. However, in 2010, the 79-year-old host felt severe pains in his leg that left him barely able to walk. The scary part was Philbin had triple bypass surgery and a hip replacement in 2007. However, the procedure was done without any problems and Philbin recovered nicely. In fact, he went back to work alongside Ripa the very next day. At the age of 84, he is entertaining doing another show with his former Live co-host Gifford.
