Binge eating disorder is similar to addiction in many ways, including the potential for an overflow of emotions. Often addicts will report a rush of emotions after they have used, including guilt, sadness and disgust. When it comes to men and women who suffer from BED, the feeling can be similar.
Individuals might fall into a self-loathing cycle of feel depressed after they eat, yet they also feel a lack of power over controlling their disorder. They may also stress about what this eating is doing for their health, yet are saddened that they cannot do anything to stop it. They are simply overwhelmed with emotions post-binge.
