When we talk about “getting in shape” it really comes down to only a few things: We want to lose body fat, increase flexibility, get stronger, be more athletic, and we want to build muscle. Doesn’t sound so hard does it? Ok maybe it does but lets break it down and tackle one at a time.
Perhaps no tip on this list is more vital than this: if you want to build muscle than you have to lift heavy weights, end of story. And don’t worry I am not saying you cant build muscle unless you lift 400 lbs, I’m saying don’t take it easy on yourself. Don’t perform endless reps with 50 lbs if you know you can do 80 lbs. On your main sets you should be struggling to get your 8th, 9th, 10th rep. Heavy is whatever challenges you to do that. And forget the idea that light weight for more reps gets you “cut”, doesn't work that way.
