On the fast track to becoming one of NASCAR's superstars, Brian Vickers seemed unstoppable. Consequently, a pulmonary embolism slowed down his profession in 2010. The 26-year-old race-car driver was taking a bike ride when he felt sluggish and out of breath. Within less than 24 hours, he could barely breathe. He was rushed to the hospital where they found multiple blood clots, including a pulmonary embolism. What could have been the end of his life was just a mere bump in the road. He recovered and then in 2013 they found another clot in his leg. Down only for a short period, this time, he returned to the race track in 2014.
