The Chaos of Getting Your Child Psychiatry Treatment May Finally Start Getting Easier

As you can imagine, with the as busy as most adults are in today’s world, children are also incredibly over scheduled. They’re day at school for instance brings many more challenges than kids had to endure in past generations. Take the element of social media for instance, back in the 1990’s or 80’s kids could essentially just be kids. There was no threat of being bullied, or intimidated on the internet back then, nor was it a distraction from everyday life like it is now.

Kids are showing signs of maturing much younger than ever, and being interested in the opposite sex at alarmingly young ages in 2016, which can all bring on a lot of added stress to just feel secure enjoying their youth. All of these pressures tend to have an effect on children, especially those between the ages of 9 and 17 years old. With all of these additional stressors, equates a higher demand for child psychology needs, and they aren’t always just a phone call away.

If your son or daughter seems to look like they need some form of therapeutic services, one would imagine it’s as easy as performing a simple Google search, and making a phone call to set up an appointment for your child, isn’t it? Wrong, completely wrong. Instead, the first step is looking into your health insurance plan to see if it even covers psychiatry sessions. If it does, then you need to get a doctor that is in your network to avoid paying astronomical fees to use the doctor. Even after all of that paperwork, there’s the element of actually getting the appointment. Most mental health offices have an extensive waiting period, with some having a few weeks to wait to be seen by a therapist.

This can be stressful, especially if you have a child that is in dyer need of mental health care. The team at US News advises that the best thing to do is to talk to your primary care doctor and let them know that you’re stuck waiting for quite some time to get your son or daughter therapy. If there is an emergency as far as mental health is concerned, please visit your local emergency room immediately.
