Magnesium Deficiency May be the Culprit for Your Daily Fatigue


With everyone leading extremely overscheduled lives currently, it should come as no surprise that millions are suffering from awful bouts of fatigue each day. While there will always be variables to play into that issue such as lack of sleep, nutrition, not exercising each day, and so forth; there is a new thought process by experts that claim not having a daily dose of magnesium may be all you need to boost your energy.

Two of the biggest symptoms of living with a magnesium deficiency are suffering from muscle cramping, and feeling tired. To avoid misdiagnosing yourself with this, ensure that you are already taking all of the right precautions to prevent fatigue as in sleeping at least six hours per night and eating your green vegetables. She reported that magnesium is needed for your hormones to work properly, as well as your heart rate, and your muscle growth.  She also stated that magnesium is linked to hundreds of biochemical reactions within the body, stressing the importance of the element.

The daily recommended dose of magnesium is roughly 320 milligrams for ladies and 420 for the men. Back in 2005, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey released an interesting tidbit that over half of the American population alone was living with a magnesium deficiency. Finding out if magnesium is the sole culprit for your issues is not as easy as a simple blood test. Doctors report that only a mere 1% of magnesium will show up in your lab work anyway, making the easiest way to detect if magnesium will be impactful is to start taking supplements each day.

Some other things to consider are that if you consume too much sugar on a regular basis you could be wasting away the magnesium you consume as well. Sugar results in magnesium being secreted by the kidneys which depletes the amount of the element you had built up for the day. Having a better diet each week will only aide in how the magnesium is absorbed into your body.

A few foods worth adding to your diet that are excellent sources of magnesium are:

  • Leafy green vegetables
  • Bananas
  • Yogurt
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Fish
  • Soy foods- soybeans specifically
  • Dark chocolate

It is advised to not overdo the magnesium supplements as they can cause adverse reactions, unless directed by your medical team. Follow the recommended dosage on the labels, make a conscious effort to eat a well-balanced diet including foods that contain magnesium and shortly you will see improvements. Your fatigue, mental alertness, muscle cramping, and overall personality may improve in just a few weeks of taking the element on a regular basis.
