Signs of Influenza


Everyone hates the flu, it can often be a respiratory nightmare. No one wants to get it and many people spend a lot of money in trying to avoid it. Many people confuse colds with having the flu but they are very different. They typically occur between the months of November-April and once you get it, the flu can last up to 2 weeks in a person. Some complications can arise however and some people end up developing pneumonia from the flu. As many as 8,000 people a year die from complications of the flu so it’s certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Here are some symptoms indicating that you are getting the flu:

1. Fever

Fever is a very common symptom of the flu. It can hit strong and as high as 106F, and it usually involves a trip to the hospital. Many fever have been known to last up to 4 days before breaking.

2. Vomiting

If you are visiting the porcelain gods more than normal chances are you have the flu.

3. Trouble Breathing

Chest congestion can make breathing difficult. If you are coughing a lot and having trouble getting oxygen in your lungs you may have the flu.

4. Sore Throat

Sore Throats are common in the flu due to excessive coughing. Dehydration can also cause your throat to become raw.

5. Muscle Aches & Soreness

If you are having trouble getting out of bed due to unnecessary aches and pains it can be a strong indication that you are going to be sick.

6. Chills

A common occurrence for people who get a fever due to the flu. As a fever effects your body you can develop night sweats and chills.

7. Diarrhea

Very similar to how you feel when you are about to vomit, diarrhea and very loose stools are a common symptom of the flu.

8. Headaches

When you have the flu chances are you experience congestion and the feeling that your head is in a fog. That feeling can easily lead to painful headaches that take awhile to go away.

9. Coughing

Coughing is a common occurrence in the flu, it can lead to a sore throat and cause headaches depending on the severity of the cough.

10. Running Nose

Starting to feel like your nose is a running tap? One minute your congestion and your head feels like it will explode and the next you can’t seem to get enough Kleenex to use? Chances are you have the flu.

11. Fatigue

The flu is a massive assault on your body and it can leave you feeling completely exhausted and even unable to move from your bed.

12. Dizziness

You can often feel lightheaded and dizziness so extreme you feel like the room is spinning around you. Dizziness is a very common symptom of the flu and can leave you feel far worse, unable to leave your bed.
